We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than turning in at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your heating equipment will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
