The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the ability to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to make nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also give resume help along with financial and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“Everyone was so thrilled that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
